3D Progress - Effects [Define]

The main visual behind ClouB is the glowing effect, we all know this (if you follow the blog, otherwise.. Go read it.) is an After Effects deal. Personally, I'm not good at After Effects but I'll do what I can.

Firstly, some more 3D shots of lighting tests, preview renders. Testing glass materials, window reflections, day light system, indoor lights and etc. Just some progress logging!

Effects Logger
On wards to Effects. The deal consisted of masks. I masked the area to glow, and layered more masks of the areas it would effect more and less then others. I did a quick paint in photoshop to see how a glowing effects WITHOUT mosaic texture would look. The few people I showed said it looks better and the mosaic style might get a little messy. People prefer to keep it subtle so I'll keep on those lines.

After I got the renders done, I worked on the effects. Using simple ellipses with glow effects do to a pulsing motion and tutorials on dust particles were my life savers! Again, masks were the key to getting the effect I wanted. From first glance, the rooms have a hue over them but closer inspection will show a soft feathered pulse effect. Neat right?

Compose and Render!
